I’ve been using magnetic peddles for MTBing for a few years now. A necessary item for me even though I have always clipped in. Since a medical issue, which caused some difficulties on my left side, I started using magnetic peddles on my full-suspension and hardtail Mountain bikes. I got the benefit of feeling attached to my bike but not feeling locked in. Since my left foot was unable to disengage with conventional clipless, and couldn’t stay on with flats, a magnetic peddle made sense.
Having tried, and worn out, other magnetic peddles, I decided to try the RemTech Hustle magnetic peddles. They looked good. They looked well built. They might work for me.
I installed them shortly after I received delivery and went for a short “test” ride. I decided to keep on riding and went for a steep technical ride.…on several trails. I never experienced any accidental disengagement regardless of the rough terrain. Removing my foot from the RemTech magnetic peddle seemed very similar to other magnetic-type peddles but…the engagement was different. It was better. The alignment of my shoe was better. Any adjustment I needed was very small or sometimes not even necessary. This was a noticeable improvement and an important factor when you’re moving quickly over technical trails or climbing up and over rocks and marbles. The audible “click” was also noticeable to me when I engaged my left shoe.
RemTech Hustle magnetic peddles seem to be the answer. I can’t imagine going to clipless or flats anymore. They make a good conversation starter too. Whenever I’m asked; What are those? I usually explain and then show them the spd plate on the bottom of my shoe. (I’m not a Flamingo????, honestly).
