I have ridden spd pedals since they first arrived on the scene. I was comfortable with the trade off between secure footing and the sometimes painful crashes when I didn’t release. I have been giving the Hustle pedals a trial run in Sedona.
Long story short: love the pedals. I have never felt more comfortable on rocky downhills. The platform gives me a lot of security. As well, my hike-a-bikes are much more comfortable because of the flat shoe vs my well-worn Shimano shoes.
The Hustle pedal is not an incremental improvement over what’s historically been available. It’s a breakthrough product. It’s terrific. My wife, also on the pedals, said yesterday: “I’m never going back.”
